We started researching these underage killers a while back and have since regretted the horror which we have uncovered. Here are the stories which will send shivers down your spine and ensure that you never look at the world with the same faith.
Teenager who brutally stabbed his friend
When JoLynn Mishne insisted to her family that her friend, Dustin Lynch, stays with them, they had no idea that it would end up in the death of their daughter.
Lynch, 15 at that time, stabbed Mishne many times with a kitchen knife after bashing her head on her bedpost. Lynch’s parents ended up blaming Grand Theft Auto 3 for the gruesome murder stating that he used to play it for hours which led to this ordeal. When asked about the motives, Lynch’s reply was that he ‘did her a favor and satisfied all my needs while doing it!’.
Lynch was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder. However, his sentence got changed to a life in prison when he killed an inmate and attempted to kill another… and we are pretty sure that prisons don’t have GTA 3.
Hate crime against an infant
The Carpenters hired a 14-year-old, Milbry Brown, as domestic help. Little did they know that this decision would end up taking their infant’s life.
The incident happened just after the Mrs. Carpenter scolded Brown for not sweeping the floor properly. Shortly afterward, Brown went to where Mrs. Carpenter’s baby was, opened the baby’s lips and poured carbolic acid down his throat causing the infant to die in painful agony.
During the trial, it was found that this was a hate crime with Brown, an African-American taking out her mistreatment and frustration on the baby. Though Brown was a minor yet she was swiftly executed by hanging in 1892 due to the brutality of the crime and her lack of regret.
Killing a classmate just because of his sexual preference
Brandon McInerney had just turned 14 when he decided to shoot a boy in front of all his classmates. The boy’s sin… he was gay and used to dress like a girl, which made McInerney hate him. McInerney was tried as an adult and was convicted of second-degree murder, earning a jail term of 21 years in state prison.
Serial killer who poisoned 70 people including his own family
Graham Young was fascinated with poisons and began experimenting with them during preteen years. He did this by lacing his family members’ tea cups with poisons which often left them sick or nauseated. His growing love with poison eventually proved fatal for his step-mother, Young was just 15 years at that time.
It was only after his step-mother passed away that Young’s family suspected something was amiss. Young was sent off to a psychiatrist, who then recommended the family contact the police. Young was arrested and admitted to have attempted to kill his father, sister and friends as well.
Young was sent to a mental hospital for 8 years, but his passion for poison kept on growing with some speculating that he could even extract cyanide from plant leaves. He succeeded in proving those rumors when he killed an inmate with his experiments though it was not contributed to Young at that time.
After being released from the hospital, Young started working for a military manufacturer and kept up his style of poisoning people by lacing their tea. He even held a diary which had the doses and reactions of his victims penned in, with him deciding who to kill and whose life to spare. It’s estimated that he poisoned at least 70 people, and killed 2 before he was caught and sentenced to life in prison, where he died at the age of 43.
Preteen who tortured and killed for fun
Jesse Pomeroy was just 11 when he started trapping and torturing kids younger than him for fun. He would often take these kids to hidden spots and then proceed to brutally torture them by beating them with fists, belts and sometimes with a knife as well. The brutality of these incidents ensured that Pomeroy was swiftly caught.
The authorities sentenced him to a reform school till the age of 21, however, he got out early on good behavior. Pomeroy, now 14, replied to the kindness shown to him by kidnapping and killing a 10-year-old girl. Shortly afterward, Pomeroy went after a preschooler and killed him by hacking his body.
When the police found the mutilated boy, they went after Pomeroy despite having little to no evidence of his involvement. When confronted, Pomeroy just shrugged his shoulder and coldly replied ‘I suppose I did’. The shivers which you are feeling right now with this calm response is exactly what the authorities must have felt, as he was sentenced to life and spent all his remaining years in jail.
The teen girl who killed for the thrill
The teenager, Alyssa Bustamante had just hit 15 when she murdered her neighbor Elizabeth Olten who was just 9. The cold-blooded murder happened in 2009, Bustamente reportedly slit her victim’s throat and stabbed her multiple times before proceeding to describe the experience in her diary as ‘ahmazing’ and ‘pretty enjoyable’.
Investigators found that the teen was planning for the murder a week in advance and had even dug two graves for the victim. She used her sister to entice the girl to come to her home and after the ordeal, she even had the audacity to participate in the city-wide search for the victim.
The teen had a history of depression and had even attempted suicide once. Her social media presence shows just how troubled the teen was. She listed ‘killing people’ as her hobby on her YouTube profile and had posted pictures of her slashed wrists on Facebook.
Though unlike many on this list, Bustamante is remorseful of her crime and has even stated ‘If I could give my life to bring her back, I would. I just want to say I’m sorry for what happened. I’m so sorry’ to the family of the victim.
The girl who became serial killer before she could achieve puberty
Mary Bell was a serial killer even before she became a teenager. She committed her first murder at the age of 11, the victim being a 4-year boy. Mary then teamed up with Norma Joyce Bell and started vandalizing places, leaving notes claiming responsibility for the crime.
It was not long before Mary convinced Norma to partake in kidnapping, eventually leading to another murder. In July, 1968 the girls kidnapped Brian Howe (3 at that time) and took him to a wasteland. They then proceeded to torture the boy by using pair of scissors to cut his hair, scratch his legs and even mutilate his private parts.
The boy died shortly afterwards when they strangled him, but even this couldn’t satisfy Mary’s dark side as she returned to the crime scene to engrave the letter ‘M’ on the boy’s belly. Mary was convicted of manslaughter and was given 12 years in jail. She was allowed to change her name when she came out of the prison and is believed to be a 58-year-old grand mother now.
10 year old brutal killers
When people saw two preteen kids slapping and kicking a preschooler, they assumed that big brothers are just bullying their smaller sibling. Little did they know that their decision to not intervene would cause the death of James Bulger, the victim who was just 2 years of age.
The murderers, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, both 10 at that time, kidnapped James Bulger from a shopping mall and took him for a long deadly walk, all the while slapping and kicking him for fun. Upon reaching the intended spot, they proceeded to unleash their sinister side by throwing bricks and stones on the innocent boy, sodomizing him and dropping a 22 pound iron bar on his head, before leaving the victim on the railway tracks.
James’s body(which was cut in half by the train) was discovered two days later. The decapitation of the body was not the reason for his death as James had already parted from this world during the heinous and barbaric act of these cold-hearted killers who had even tried to kill before using a similar method.
Thompson and Venables were found guilty in 1993, making them the youngest convicted murderers in modern English history. Until now, £250,000 of taxpayer’s money had been spent on concealing the identity of these killers and serial offenders.
