Donald J Trump is one of the most talked about and controversial presidents in US history. Before his current role at the oval office, he was a jack of all trades, from businessman to television personality and even owning a University (yes, RIP Trump University).
The Trump legacy sure has more shades (greyer) than 50!! Here are some crazier than crazy facts you probably didn’t know about the man himself.
Our beloved toon family ‘The Simpson’ has predicted events in the past which eerily came true in the future ( Nostrodomus sigh ). 16 years ago, in one such episode called ‘Bart To The Future’ the creators showed Donald Trump announcing his candidacy for president. In the show, the image of Trump riding an escalator, waving to the crowd is identical to his real photo from the 2015 campaign.
The episode also shows Lisa elected as the first women president trying to rebuild the economy after it is left broke by the previous, Trump, administration. Let’s just hope we get our first women president some day, the part of the broke economy is a scary one though.
Trump has always declared that he is very rich. Well, we don’t doubt that he is rich, but is he rich enough to be on the Forbes 400 list. According to a reporter from Forbes Magzine Donald Trump had lied to him to get into the Forbes list of top 400 wealthiest Americans.
The reporter also said that Trump faked himself as ‘John Barron’, had even called the reporter claiming that Trump had inherited his father assets making him a billionaire.
Surprisingly. this year Trump slipped to 766th spot on the Forbes list compared to 544th spot from last year. Ouch!!
That might come as a shocker to most of the peeps who are following Trump, but he is actually one of the less generous businessmen around. While he had pledged to give more than $8.5 million to charities, he has not honored most of them.
And even when he did honor it, he donated to his own charity. Around $3.7 million was given to his own charity over a period of 20 years (less than what WWE has donated in a single year) and even then only a third of the money made it’s way out.
Donald Trump has always declared that he is a very successful businessman. In fact, one of his main promises during his campaign was to ‘Make America Rich Again’.
What he does try to sidestep is the fact that he has filed for bankruptcy more times than he has gotten married! The earliest one was filed in 1991, while the latest one was filed in 2009.
Based upon what legal terms you believe, the number of bankruptcy could go even higher to 6!
Many peeps have made it their business to pull some hilarious and sometimes rather disturbing jokes on Donald Trump’s appearance. From the size of his hands, his trademark hair or even the color of his skin (orange is it?). Here are some newsworthy jibes that are funny and some rather controversial.
Kathy Griffin holding Trump’s bloody decapitated head. Kathy Griffin, an American comedian famously known for co-hosting CNN’s New Year Show did something in extremely bad taste. She posted a photo of her holding a bloody (albeit covered with tomato ketchup bloody) decapitated head of the president on the net.
She deleted it later but the damage was done. As she was immediately fired, her upcoming shows were all canceled and the crude joke earned her the ire of several federal agencies who had to (rightly so) open up an investigation on her for plotting to assassinate the president. She later made a tearful apology saying her career was over.
Bill Maher comparing Trump to an Ape. American comedian Bill Maher came under sever line of fire when he made a joke about Trump’s mother having sex with an orangutan. This invited a 5 million lawsuit from Trump which he later withdrew.
Trump and the size of his hand debate. The controversy started during the 2016 presidential race when Florida senator, Marco Rubio, made comments about Trump’s hand being small for a man who is 6’2″ in height. Thin-skinned Trump not only defended the size of his hands with an undertone of clarifying the size of his reproductive organ as well.
“Look at those hands, are they small hands? And he referred to my hands—’If they’re small, something else must be small.’ I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee you.”
He won the California presidential essential for the Reform Party in 2000.
Trumps 2016 presidential campaign turned out to be one of the most controversial elections in US history. From the promises of building a wall to extreme vetting policy of immigrants, there was a lot said by the famous businessman turned tv personality turned politician.
But if you think this was his first time running for the office, you are mistaken. In 2000, Donald Trump had joined the Reform Party as an independent candidate for the presidential race.
Though the campaign was short-lived and Trump quit the race in 5 months. Leading to the speculation that it was all a publicity stunt for the release of his book ‘The America We Deserve’. The New York Times had quoted back then:
“Mr. Trump’s political travels happen to coincide with a release of a book, and what at first at a glance appears to be a campaign pamphlet turns out, on closer inspection, to a promotional leaflet for the book.”
Leading many to wonder what was better? Him becoming the president or using the presidential race as a PR stunt.
For his role as producer of The Apprentice.
Trump became the 2,327th star to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after the ‘YUGE-ly’ popular television show ‘The Apprentice. This makes Trump the second president in US history to have a star after Ronald Reagan.
Though, the star is not as lucky as the man itself. It has been under constant attack/vandalism with the latest attack occurring as soon as in July 2018. In fact, due to the numerous graffiti violence incident that has occurred on that star, it had to have its own mini wall constructed around itself. Maybe that’s why he loves building walls!
Yes, it’s true, Donald Trump is a teetotaler. While a complete shocker to most of us given his wide, vibrant range of tweets at 3 AM in the morning.
The reason for shunning away the booze and cigarettes is the advice of his elder brother, Fred Trump, who, while an alcoholic, gave his brother the sane advice of not following him on the same path. Sadly, Fred passed away in 1981 after a long battle with alcohol addiction. Since then, Trump has made it his life’s mission to never drink or smoke.
Though surprisingly, he won’t hesitate in endorsing alcohol and even has own brank of winery (Trump Winery) and vodka (Trump Vodka). That’s right, he is going to build a winery and have you drink (pay for) from it!… this sounds familiar!
As a self-confessed germaphobe, Trump dislikes shaking hands with people. He is also known to dislike pressing elevators button and people getting close to him for photo ops. There have been many cases wherein his staff has snuck a bottle of hand sanitizer in public, which is the reason he loves fist -bumps and high fives.
Trump himself has quoted this habit of his in his 1997 book, Trump: The Art of the Comeback:
One of the curses of American society is the simple act of shaking hands, and the more successful and famous one becomes the worse this terrible custom seems to get. I happen to be a clean hands freak. I feel much better after I thoroughly wash my hands, which I do as much as possible.
